Please pay attention to the factory tyre size when selecting tyres:

For example: 205/55 R16 91V.
- Here, 205 means the tyre width in mm, measured at the widest point of the fully inflated tyre.
- 55 is the percentage ratio of the tyre’s height to its width.
- R indicates that the tyre is of radial construction.
- 16 is the inner rim diameter in inches.
- 91 is the tyre load index. It indicates the maximum load that one wheel can safely carry when operated at maximum speed.
- V is the index that shows the maximum speed at which the tyre can be safely operated.
Is the tyre diameter indicated in the vehicle registration documents?
Yes, the permissible tyre size can be stated in the registration document or other technical documents for the vehicle.
How can I measure tyre diameters?
There is no need to measure the tyre diameter by hand. These parameters are marked on the side of the tyre.
When selecting wheel rims, pay attention to:
- Width.
- PCD – the number of mounting holes and diameter of the circle that passes through the centre of bolt holes.
- Centre bore – the diameter of the centre hole in the middle of the wheel.
- ET – offset, i.e. the distance from the centre of the wheel to the where the hub is mounted.
Can I buy wheel rims of any size for my car?
Wheel rim sizes must comply with the car manufacturer's recommendations. If they are too narrow or too wide, the wheel could be out of alignment with the suspension and body of the vehicle. This will impair the tyre's response by reducing lateral stiffness and steering resistance. In addition, changes to the tyre's contact patch size and shape will significantly increase the risk of aquaplaning and loss of control. When selecting products, always refer to the owner's manual of the vehicle. Car manufacturers may also place information on permitted rim sizes on the inside of the fuel filler flap.
Which should I choose: tyres for a specific season or all-season tyres?
It’s better to have the right set of tyres for each season. All-season tyres wear out more quickly due to continuous use, and they also perform less effectively when the weather is too hot or too cold.
